GETTR is a popular social media platform that allows users to share their thoughts, engage with others, and even livestream their content. In this guide, we will walk you through the detailed steps to create and customize your very own livestream on GETTR. Let's get started!

Step 1: Sign in to GETTR

To begin, you'll need to sign in to your GETTR account. Make sure you have a verified account to go live.

Step 2: Access the Livestream Feature

Step 3: Set up Your Livestream

Before you start livestreaming, you'll need to set up a few things. Here's how:

1. Camera and Microphone: Ensure that your device's camera and microphone are working properly. Livestreaming requires access to these devices to capture and broadcast your content.

2. Title and Description:
Give your livestream a catchy title that accurately represents the topic or theme of your livestream. Additionally, provide a brief description that will entice viewers to join your livestream.
You can set up this by clicking on the edit button.

3. Language & Category: To help users discover your livestream, select a language and appropriate category that align with your content. This will make it easier for interested viewers to find your livestream.

4. Cover: Add a livestream cover involves designing a visually appealing image or graphic that represents the content of your livestream. Recommend size: 1200x480 pixels.

5. Autoplay & chat:

The autoplay feature is a functionality that automatically starts playing content without requiring the user to take explicit action, such as clicking a play button.
Remember that enabling or disabling chat may have implications for the viewer experience, community engagement, and moderation.

6. Third party software:
Here's a general guide using OBS Studio, a popular open-source streaming software, as an example. OBS Studio is often used in conjunction with third-party services for streaming. Please note that the steps may vary based on updates or changes to software and services, so always refer to the latest documentation.

a. Open OBS Studio

b. Set Up Scenes and Sources

c. Configure Streaming Settings:

  • Go to "Settings" > "Stream" in OBS Studio.

  • Choose the streaming service "Custom..."

d. Obtain Stream Key and URL: Find your stream key. This is a unique code that connects OBS Studio to your streaming account.

e. Enter Stream Key and URL in OBS: Copy and paste the stream key and stream URL into the corresponding field in OBS Studio under "Settings" > "Stream." Introduce your stream URL into the server field.

f. Configure Video and Audio Settings: Adjust video and audio settings to ensure the quality you desire. Set your desired output resolution and bitrate.

g. Preview Stream: Use the "Preview Stream" option to check how your stream looks before going live.

Step 4: Start Live-streaming

Once you have customized your livestream to your liking, it's time to start broadcasting! Simply click on the "Start Streaming" button in OBS Studio, then click on "Go live" in GETTR and your livestream will be live for others to view.

Step 5: Engage with Your Viewers

While livestreaming, make sure to engage with your viewers. Respond to comments, answer questions, and create an interactive experience for your audience. This will help build a loyal and engaged community around your livestreams.

Step 6: End the Livestream

When you're ready to end your livestream, simply click on the "End Livestream" button in GETTR and in OBS.

Congratulations! You've successfully created and customized a livestream on GETTR. We hope this guide has been helpful and that you're now ready to share your content with the world. Happy livestreaming!

Please note that the live-streaming feature is currently only available to verified users.
