How to Send Direct Messages (DMs)?

On the Website:

Step 1:

Click the "Messages" icon on the navigation bar.

Step 2:

Tap "Create" > "New chat."

Step 3:

Enter the username of the person you want to message and select them from the search results.

Step 4:

Click the "Create" button in the upper right corner.

On the App:

Step 1:

Tap your profile picture in the top left corner.

Step 2:

Select the "Messages" icon in the navigation bar.

Step 3:

Tap the "Create" button in the upper right corner.

Step 4:

Enter the username of the person you want to message and select them from the search results to create a chat.

Additionally, you can directly message someone by clicking the "Send a message" icon on their profile page.

Can the Recipient Receive My DM?

The recipient won't receive your DM if:

  • They've set specific filtering criteria in their DM settings (based on accounts they follow, and verified users), which you don't meet.

  • They've blocked or muted you.

  • They haven't enabled direct messaging.

If the recipient's DM settings are set to "Everyone," they can receive DMs from anyone.

Who Can DM Me?

  • You can manage your DM settings by navigating to "Settings" > "Privacy" > "Direct Message."

  • Users who meet your settings/filter criteria can send you DMs.

  • Additionally, users you've blocked or muted cannot send you DMs.

Can Blocked/Muted Users DM Me?

Blocked or muted users cannot send you DMs.


Can I Edit, Delete, or Pin My Sent Messages?

You can edit, delete, or pin your DMs:

On the Website:

Hover over the message, click "More," then choose "Pin," "Edit message," or "Delete."

On the App:

Long-press the message, scroll down, and select "Pin to conversation,""Edit message" or "Delete message."

Please note: After editing or deleting, the recipient will see the edited message or see that you've deleted the message.

How to Delete DMs?

On the Website:

Method 1:

Hover over the conversation, click the "More" icon, then select "Delete chat."

Method 2:

In the chat, click the "i" icon in the upper right corner, then choose "Delete chat."

On the App:

Method 1:

Swipe left on the chat you want to delete and select "Delete."

Method 2:

In the chat, tap the profile icon in the upper right corner and choose "Delete chat."

Note: Deleting a chat removes it from your account, but the other user can still view the conversation.

How to Create a Group?

On the Website:

Step 1:

Click the "Messages" icon in the navigation bar.

Step 2:

Select "Create a Group."

Step 3:

Enter usernames, select users from the search results, and click "Create."

On the App:

Step 1:

Tap your profile picture.

Step 2:

Select the "Messages" icon.

Step 3:

Tap the "Create" icon and select "Create a group."

Step 4:

Enter usernames, select users, input the group name and click "Create."

How to Join a Group?

You can be added directly by a group admin or click on an admin-generated invite link to join.

How to Manage My Group as an Admin?

Click the "i" icon (Website) or group avatar (App) to access the group management. From here, you can edit group details, add members, generate invite links, and more.

How to Exit a Group?

Step 1:

Click the "i" icon (Website) or group avatar (App).

Step 2:

Click or tap "Leave group."

Step 3:

Choose "Leave" or "Leave and Block Group Owner."

If you're the group owner and choose "Delete and leave group," your group will be disbanded, and others will automatically exit. This action is irreversible.

Why Do Blocked/Muted Users Appear in the Group?

Blocked/muted users may be invited by the group admin. Their messages will appear in the group, but they cannot DM you directly.

You can perform various actions on messages by hovering (Website) or long-pressing (App) messages:

  • More:

    • Thread Reply

    • Pin

    • Flag (for other users' messages)

    • Edit message (for your messages)

    • Delete (for your messages)

  • Reply

  • Forward

  • Emoji reactions

  • Translate (App only)

  • Copy message (App only)

  • Pin to conversation (App only)

  • Report message (App only, for other users' messages)
